Benefits of water before your massage

We've all heard to drink "lots of water for the next couple of days" after our treatments, but drinking before your body work has many more benefits!


Hydration is important no matter how you look at it. Hydrating after your massage is fantastic and already quite effective. Water helps the kidney's to process toxins and keep them moving through the body. Staying hydrated also helps to keep you muscles pliable and flexible - and herein lies the key. Having those muscles pliable prior to your massage allows the body worker to manipulate and stretch them more efficiently.

Has your therapist ever told you that you're dehydrated? How can we tell? When muscles are healthy and hydrated they have a fresh play-dough feel to them. We are able to really assist them into more lengthened positions and massage on and around them more effectively. Much like play-dough, when you aren't hydrated, your muscles become more difficult to manipulate. We are able to make so much more progress in a hydrated body is being massaged.
